New album / live shows

It’s been a while since we played live and we’d love to see you at one of the shows we have lined up.

On Friday April 21 we’ll be at The Water Rats, King’s Cross with our musical mates, Nick Frater, whose new LP Earworms was named “album of the year’ by Powerpopaholic.com, and Whelligan, who has been described as “Like Shack fronted by Nilsson”.

Tickets available here.

We’re playing at the International Pop Overthrow Festival at the Cavern Club in Liverpool on Saturday May 21st, along with dozens of great bands. Tickets on the door.

We’re also playing at the Pump It Up Powerpop Weekender at The Lexington, Pentonville Road, London on Sunday July 3rd.
Other bands playing include Baby Shakes, Smalltown Tigers, Duncan Reid and the Big Heads, and many more.

New album
Our new album Sunday Carvery will be released on March 28th.As with previous Emperor Penguin releases, the style of the songs is rooted in melodic pop with crunchy guitars. Is it “power pop”? Well, yes, but it draws on influences as diverse as XTC, The Kinks, Teenage Fanclub and, er, Mungo Jerry and AC/DC.

You can pre-save the album on Spotify here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/emperorpenguin/sunday-carvery
And you can preview or pre-order it at Bandcamp here.
And, if you’re in the USA, you can order a physical CD here.
